A Brief Guide To Video Streaming Websites

A popular innovation on the Internet today is that of streaming video. There are all kinds of video streaming websites you can explore. On them are videos of all kinds, on every subject imaginable. Many of the streaming videos out there are made by companies. They use video to train employees, entice customers, give presentations to business associates and more. Others are made by website owners who want a way to drive traffic to their main site and promote their product and/or service.

Then there are amateur videos, which people make for entertainment. And there are web cams, designed to capture and stream live action. These cams can be puppy cams, day care cams, zoo cams, security cams, and so on. These types of streaming video cams can be used to promote the sale of the puppies, encourage visitors to come to the zoo, and allow parents to check in on their children from any computer. And as previously mentioned there are security cams, which can protect both the interior and exterior of your home. There are so many possibilities to consider with web cameras.

In order to show the world your video or cam footage, you will need one of three things: your own streaming video server, a streaming video host or a streaming video site that allows members to upload their videos for public viewing. The right option for you depends on the size of your website and amount of traffic. Only the biggest websites will require their own video streaming server, which is expensive and requires professional installation and maintenance. Host providers will host your streaming video on their server and place it on your site, saving you the expense and effort of having your own server. This is a much more affordable option.

Video streaming websites like Ustream and Stickam offer you the free option to host your video on their server and site, all you need to do is send visitors to your page. Sites like Hulu let you watch up to date clips and television shows from major networks. YouTube is the biggest video sharing site in the world, and is also free for users to upload their videos. There are quite a few stories about unexpected clips from everyday people becoming Internet sensations. You can always promote your site by uploading video to all the major streaming sites for the most exposure.
